Buddhist Basics — A 4-Part Series of Sat. a.m. Classes

These classes provide the opportunity to consider what it means to practice Buddhism and offers a chance to ask questions about how to live a life guided by Buddhist principles.  The class topics will include:

The 4 Noble Truths
The 8 Fold Path
The 10 Cardinal Precepts
Taking Refuge

There is No Charge for this Class.  Each class will begin about 10 minutes after the end of the regularly scheduled 8:30 a.m. Mount Adams Buddhist Temple Saturday Service.  (Approximately 10:10 AM) .  The dates  classes will be offered are as follows:

March – four forty minute classes 

Four Noble Truths – Rev. Valerie – 3/6
Eight Fold Path – Minh Bao – 3/13
Ten Cardinal Precepts – Rev. Emily (alt: Rev. Scott) 3/20
Taking Refuge – Rev. Jean Luc – 3/27

April – A one day Basics class on April 3rd

Approximately 40 minutes each for all the following topics:

Four Noble Truths – Rev. Emily
Eight Fold Path – Rev. Valerie
Ten Cardinal Precepts – Minh Bao
Taking Refuge – Rev. Scott See
classes start at 10:15 am on Saturday after morning service on ZOOM
Meditation Saturday 8:30 a.m. check in, 9:00 a.m. full service + meditation, 10:10 a.m. Buddhist Basics

It’s okay to begin the class series at any point.  There will be opportunities to make up courses, as needed.  

All those who complete the 4 class series and wish to make a commitment to their Buddhist practice can request to participate in the ceremony of “Taking Refuge” and following the Precepts.
