BUDDHIST BASICS
We welcome the New Year by exploring the basic teachings of the Buddha together. This class provides the opportunity to consider what it means to practice Buddhism and offers a chance to ask questions about how to live a life guided by Buddhist principles. The class topics will include:
The 4 Noble Truths
The 8 Fold Path
The 10 Cardinal Precepts
Taking Refuge
There is No Charge for this Class. Each class will begin about 10 minutes after the end of the regularly scheduled 9 AM Mount Adams Zen Buddhist Temple Saturday Service. (Approximately 10:10 AM) . The dates classes will be offered are as follows:
January 2 – The 4 Noble Truths
January 9 – The 8 Fold Path
January 23 – The 10 Cardinal Precepts
January 30 – Taking Refuge
February 6 – The 4 Noble Truths
February 13 – The 8 Fold Path
February 20 – The 10 Cardinal Precepts
February 27 – Taking Refuge
MARCH: SPECIAL ONE DAY CLASS with all 4 Topics: Date to Be Announced.
April 3 – The 4 Noble Truths
April 10 – The 8 Fold Path
April 17 – The 10 Cardinal Precepts
April 24- Taking Refuge
It’s okay to begin the class series at any point. There will be opportunities to make up courses, as needed.
All those who complete the 4 class series and wish to make a commitment to their Buddhist practice can request to participate in the ceremony of “Taking Refuge” and following the Precepts.
